Jamaica’s Minister of Tourism, Edmund Bartlett has welcomed Flair Airlines launch of new nonstop service between Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) and Montego Bay (MBJ), strengthening airlift from Canada as the island enters the peak winter travel season.

Minister Bartlett observed: “This new route will strengthen the island’s airlift and provide more options for our Canadian visitors to come to our shores. It also highlights the significant confidence that our airline partners have for the destination following an unprecedented category 5 hurricane.”

And the Minister added: “It also reinforces that fact that Jamaica is open for business and ready to welcome visitors.”

Flair Airlines’ service will run up to twice weekly, increasing seat capacity from Canada and supporting Jamaica’s broader tourism strategy focused on market diversification, resilience, and long-term growth.

Said the Minister: “This flight is truly meaningful in the context of getting back on track with our new KPIs for Jamaica’s tourism by 2030.”

Donovan White, Director of Tourism, pointed out that: “Canada continues to be one of Jamaica’s most important and resilient source markets. This new nonstop service 3 from Toronto supports our winter growth strategy by improving accessibility and making it even easier for Canadians to choose Jamaica for their holiday travel.”

The launch reflects the Jamaica Tourist Board’s continued collaboration with airline partners to expand connectivity, stimulate travel, and ensure Jamaica remains top of mind in the global tourism landscape.

Angella Bennett, Regional Director, Canada, said: “We are truly grateful for this service not just during our peak season but following the passage of hurricane Melissa. We will continue to work with our airline partners to increase airlift between both countries.”
