Season 7 of Unexpected has just begun on TLC, but viewers are already invested in the teenage cast. Amya was the first to give birth, with her boyfriend, Jose, and her mother, Mama G, by her side. So, did they stay together after the cameras went down? Keep reading for all of the exciting details.
Are Amya & Jose Still Together?
Amya and Jose were the first couple to have a baby on Season 7 of Unexpected. Admittedly, her mother, Mama G, did not prepare Amya properly with a sex talk. She believed that she was a lesbian, so she only briefed her slightly. Furthermore, Amya felt that bigger girls had a harder time getting pregnant so she was not overly cautious. This proved to be false as she and her boyfriend, Jose, were expecting at sixteen. It was a terrifying situation, and did look like she may need a C-section, but ultimately, that did not happen.
Their son, Samuel, was born, and Amya and Jose were the first to bring home a child of the season. Yet, what happened when the cameras stopped rolling? Did they stay together, or was it too much for two sixteen-year-old kids? As of now, their status is somewhat unknown. It was clear that they had their issues due to Amya’s attempt to cope with her weight. She often felt that Jose would never understand what it was like to be a bigger girl, or be big in general.
It seems that after Unexpected wrapped, Amya made some TikTok videos. She did not call Jose her boyfriend but rather “my son’s dad.” That led to the suspicion that they had split, yet nothing has been confirmed. Furthermore, Jose is tight-lipped about his status, so nothing will likely be revealed until the season has officially ended.
So Many Questions
Amya does make Unexpected content, but fans want to know why she opted for the wig that she did. They felt that it was the absolutely wrong one, and aged her. Now, she is sporting long braids and piercings, looking so much younger and far fresher. Of course, they want to know if she and Jose are together, but she does not respond:

There is still a lot more of the season to get through, and time will tell if they make it out as a happy couple. Moreover, if they can ultimately reconcile if they have split up.
