Season 7 of Unexpected has been quite a ride, and there is still so much more to come. Viewers have already met the four couples who are making up this season, one of them being Bryce Palmer and Isabella Leal-Stone. Their families are questionable, especially Bryce’s Paw Paw, Kevin, and his Maw Maw. Now, Paw Paw’s alleged shocking arrest has been revealed. Keep reading for more details.
Bryce’s Paw Paw’s Shocking Arrest Revealed
When Season 7 of Unexpected began, viewers met Bryce Palmer and Isabella Leal-Stone from Brenham, Texas. Neither had the most stable home lives, but that did not matter as they were expecting a baby girl. All Isabella wanted from Bryce was to step up and get a job. She wanted him to have income for her and their child, as she was currently the caretaker for her younger sister. Bryce maintained that Isabella should get a job, but she noted that she was over 30 weeks pregnant. Therefore, she did not think anyone would hire her.
Furthermore, she did not know who would watch the baby while she worked. She approached Bryce’s Paw Paw and Maw Maw, with whom he lived, about getting a job. They enabled him, did not make him get a job, and verbally abused Isabella, making her feel like she was worth nothing. Viewers could not stand them and the way they treated her, but now, Paw Paw is in the hot seat. A mug shot from April 2022 has been released for an alleged “terroristic threat of family/household.”
Now, this was considered a Class A misdemeanor, and it is unclear what his penalty was, if anything. However, Paw Paw, aka Kevin, did have a mug shot taken, as mentioned earlier. In it, he appeared heavier, with a smile on, while donning a striped, open, buttoned-down shirt. Per Texas law:
“A person commits an offense if he threatens to commit any offense involving violence to any person or property with intent to…place any person in fear of imminent serious bodily injury…The offense is a Class A misdemeanor if the offense…is committed against a member of the person’s family or household or otherwise constitutes family violence.”
Therefore, it makes sense as to why the Unexpected grandfather was arrested and charged.
Reminiscent Of Someone Else
Paw Paw having a mug shot is not shocking, but the reason for it is somewhat surprising. Unexpected viewers have disliked him and his wife since the beginning. They feel that they enable Bryce while treating Isabella horribly. Paw Paw infamously told his grandson, “he didn’t hit it and quit it,” which was repulsive. After learning about Paw Paw’s past, they compared the family to Jason Korpi from Season 5 of the show:
- That family reminds me of the family whose son wouldn’t let his girlfriend get an epidural and was kicked out of the hospital. I forgot their names.
- Yeah ….not a shocker! This man makes my skin crawl

Mia’s mother, Nicole, has struggled for years, and she is not an active cast member. Currently, Mia lives with her dad and has been open about her mother’s jail stints. However, Paw Paw’s arrest seems pretty hidden, so it will be interesting how they will address it, if it does pop up.
