Season 7 of Unexpected just began, but there is already a lot of drama, as with every season of the hit TLC reality series. As viewers are getting to know the cast, they are taking issue with one thing. Some feel that the teen moms should have much more of a work ethic. So, what has them putting pressure on these young ladies? Keep reading for more details.
Unexpected Ladies Slammed For Not Working
This season of Unexpected features four new couples and no returning cast members. One notable couple is Bella and Hunter, as she is 15 and he is only 13. Moreover, they were just 10 when they began dating. Then, there is Isabella and Bryce, who are both 18. Yet, he refuses to get a job, no matter how many times he is asked or told to do so. He has been raised by his grandparents, and they just enable him to do whatever he wants.
After seeing what was happening with Bryce and the pressure put on him, fans immediately felt that it was unfair. They started to believe that the same pressure should also be put on the girls to work as well. One viewer had this to say:
- Isabella needs to get a job. In a perfect world, she should be able to focus on her pregnancy, delivery and postpartum periods and not worry about working. But her child’s father has no interest in getting a job, so she has to support her baby.
They also could not understand why her mother was not encouraging her to work, especially seeing how lazy Bryce was and is. At the same time, Isabella’s mother has her taking care of her younger siblings. Therefore, she is an unpaid nanny. The one girl who does work on Unexpected is Denham Springs, Louisiana-based Mia, as she had saved up enough to pay for her baby shower. As for Bella, she is only 15, so she may not be old enough to get a job.

Get To Work
Although controversial opinions, some Unexpected fans do believe that having a strong work ethic is vital. These girls should not be exempt from having a job and supporting their babies. Now, it was noted that getting a job would likely only pay for daycare for a baby. However, others pointed out that these girls could possibly get state assistance to help care for themselves and their children:
- Not just Isabella, it baffles me how few of these girls are working prior to delivery. Pregnancy is 9 months, there’s zero reason they can’t be working until that point.
- Isabella is 18 of course she needs a job.
- This sounds mean but I see younger couples door dash and uber eats together all the time..even Amazon flex
One question was who would hire a pregnant woman, and the truth is that there are anti-discrimination laws. They could have easily discussed what would happen after the baby was born, and the couples could work out schedules. That has yet to happen, but hopefully it will, so everyone carries their own weight.
