If you’ve been looking to buy a Steam Deck sometime soon, you’ll likely have to wait a while longer.
Over the past few days, gamers have taken to the web to point out that the OLED models of Valve’s handheld gaming PC are sold out. This is on top of the 256GB LCD model, which Valve quietly discontinued in December to focus solely on the OLEDs.
Now, Valve has added a message to its Steam Deck page, noting that the OLED models “may be out-of-stock intermittently in some regions due to memory and storage shortages.” At the time of writing, the handheld isn’t available in Canada.
Notably, this statement from Valve comes shortly after the PC gaming giant delayed its Steam Machine console, Steam Frame VR headset and Steam Controller. In a blog post, the company confirmed that this was also due to global memory and storage shortages. It added that it still plans to launch the devices in the first half of the year and will provide updates on release timing and pricing as soon as possible.
