MUBI have released the Official UK Trailer for La Grazia from acclaimed Italian filmmaker Paolo Sorrentino which is heading to UK cinemas in March.
This one stars Sorrentino regular Tony Servillo who plays Italian President Mariano De Santis. La Grazia follows De Santis in his final days in power and standing at a personal crossroad.
There seems to be no middle ground when it comes to Italian filmmakers. Sorrentino like Luca Guadagnino, they can’t seem to find that middle ground. This film might have the signature Sorrentino moments, the reviews have been mixed. Seeing someone in their final days of power is an interesting topic. What is going through their minds personally and professionally, does that mean just stepping away from everything or keeping following your morals?
Synopsis | From Academy and BAFTA Award–winning filmmaker Paolo Sorrentino, LA GRAZIA is a sweeping exploration of love, duty, and personal freedom. Toni Servillo – winner of the Best Actor Award at the 2025 Venice Film Festival – stars as Italy’s outgoing fictional president, Mariano De Santis, navigating moral and personal crossroads with the help of his confidante and daughter, Dorotea (Anna Ferzetti). With Sorrentino’s signature poetic vision and an evocative soundtrack, this heartfelt masterwork is an intimate meditation on fatherhood, conscience, and the enduring question: who owns our days?
