Mooney’s 105 off 73 balls powered the Scorchers to 172/3 before their bowlers and fielders combined effectively to bowl out the Heat for 149 in 19.1 overs.

Opening the innings alongside Katie Mack, Mooney looked in complete control from the outset. She played with elegance and precision, mixing orthodox strokes with calculated aggression. Her innings featured 13 boundaries and three sixes, maintaining a strike rate of 143.84.
Mooney and Mack added 89 runs for the first wicket, laying a solid platform for the Scorchers. After Mack’s dismissal for 31 (29), Mooney continued her onslaught, punishing anything short or wide. Her 105-run knock was the cornerstone of Perth’s innings, guiding them to a competitive total of 172/3.
Lucy Hamilton (2/28) was the pick of Brisbane’s bowlers, while skipper Jess Jonassen managed one wicket but went for 35 in her four overs. Despite some disciplined bowling in the middle overs, the Heat failed to contain Mooney’s brilliance, especially in the death overs where Perth scored freely.

Brisbane Heat’s chase falters despite Chinelle Henry’s late fireworks
In reply, Brisbane Heat began positively with Grace Harris launching a few powerful strokes. She raced to 46 off 30 balls, smashing eight boundaries, before being dismissed by Ebony Hoskin. From there, the Heat’s innings lost momentum.
Jemimah Rodrigues (11) and skipper Jess Jonassen (0) fell cheaply, leaving the middle order under pressure. Charli Knott (32 off 30) tried to stabilize the chase, but Sophie Devine’s timely strikes – removing Rodrigues and Knott – dented Brisbane’s hopes.
Chinelle Henry, however, kept the fight alive with a blistering 39 off just 23 balls, hitting three fours and three sixes. But her dismissal in the 19th over ended any chance of a late miracle. Brisbane eventually folded for 149, falling short by 23 runs.
Perth Scorchers’ bowling unit delivered a collective performance. Chloe Ainsworth (2/34) and Devine (2/32) provided crucial breakthroughs, while Amy Edgar’s economical spell of 1/19 in four overs applied pressure in the middle phase.
Fielding was another highlight for Perth — Mooney and Ebony Hoskin were involved in three run-outs, reflecting the Scorchers’ sharpness and energy in the field.
