We never thought we’d say it but it’s time to dump Erling Haaland

FPL gameweek 30 is all about thinking one step ahead. With blank Gameweek 31 right around the corner and Europe kicking back in, this isn’t the time to cling onto big names with risky minutes or ugly fixtures. A few popular assets have done their job, others are turning into problems, and now is the moment to move them on while their value still feels high. Here are five players I’d be happy to sell this week.

    Erling Haaland (14.6m)

You never want to sell Haaland, but the stars are as close to aligning as they ever will. West Ham at home looks great on paper, but it sits right before Manchester City’s Champions League return against Real Madrid, making reduced minutes or even a benching a very real possibility. Then comes the killer: a blank in Gameweek 31. For a premium this expensive, the combination of possible rotation and a guaranteed no‑show in gameweek 31 is brutal. Using him to fund Mohamed Salah for Spurs and Brighton, while also freeing cash to strengthen elsewhere, gives you a powerful two‑week structure play. It’s aggressive, but there’s logic behind the gamble. Are you brave enough?

    James Tarkowski (5.7m)

Tarkowski just dropped a huge 15-pointer and owners have every right to enjoy it – but this is exactly when you should ask the awkward question: what next? Everton now face Arsenal away followed by Chelsea, two fixtures where clean sheets feel like a stretch and DEFCON points are far from guaranteed. With 11% ownership, there’s also an opportunity here to step off before everyone else clocks the shift in fixtures. There aren’t many obvious “must‑sells” this week, but an Everton defender heading into that run is definitely one of them. Bank the haul, say thanks, and move the money into a defence with better upside.

    Viktor Gyökeres (8.8m)

If you’re among the 12% who own Gyökeres, you’re probably pretty happy with five goals in his last six. But there are a couple of red flags to consider now. First, Everton are up next – a side who, despite their issues, generally don’t ship many goals. Second, Arsenal blank in Gameweek 31, and with a finely poised Champions League tie against Bayer Leverkusen, there’s every chance his minutes are managed around Europe. When you factor in the blank and the likelihood of tighter games, it becomes easier to jump off early and switch to a forward with both fixtures and minutes on their side heading into GW31.

    Crystal Palace defender Daniel Munoz

    Daniel Muñoz (5.9m)

Muñoz could’ve been a brilliant differential, so this one hurts. A back injury has made him a doubt for Leeds in Gameweek 30, and while there’s still a chance he makes it, the noises don’t sound particularly encouraging. Layer on top the fact he’s very likely to blank in Gameweek 31 and suddenly you’re looking at a defender who might miss now and definitely miss next week. At that point, he becomes an easy sell. You don’t want to be relying on an injured full‑back in this part of the season. Not worth the risk, not worth the hold, and definitely not worth the stress.

    Declan Rice (7.4m)

Rice has been superb value and Everton at home in GW30 is a genuinely good fixture, especially with Arsenal smelling blood after City’s slip against Forest. But sometimes timing trumps attachment. With Arsenal blanking in Gameweek 31, moving Declan Rice on a week early lets you attack two gameweeks instead of one. There are plenty of mids with big‑haul potential and guaranteed minutes across 30 and 31 – exactly what you need heading into Wildcard 32. Rice will keep ticking over, no doubt, but if selling him funds a more explosive short‑term move, it’s a sacrifice that makes a lot of sense.
