“Real Housewives of Potomac” star Wendy Osefo has filed shocking court documents following her arrest on felony fraud charges.

The reality star and her husband, Eddie Osefo, were taken into custody in early October 2025 and accused of staging a fake burglary to defraud different insurance companies.

Recently, Wendy Osefo’s legal team asked a Maryland court to dismiss the charges against her and to suppress all evidence found during law enforcement’s search and seizure.

According to a report from Us Weekly, Wendy’s legal team filed court documents on October 17, claiming the reality star was the victim of an “illegal” arrest. Wendy is also requesting that the court dismiss all charges against her due to “defects in the charging document.”

In the documents, Wendy asked for all evidence against her to be “suppressed because of unlawful search or seizure.” She also requested that any wire and verbal communications be “suppressed because of an unlawful interception.”

The Bravo star’s lawyer declared that “all admissions, statements, or confessions” made by his client shouldn’t be allowed as evidence, considering “they were unlawfully obtained.”

A previous report from The Blast details Wendy and Eddie’s early October arrest. According to Maryland law enforcement officers, the couple was taken into custody and charged with several counts of insurance fraud, conspiracy to commit insurance fraud, and one count of giving a false statement to police.

Us Weekly shared that Wendy had a slew of other requests in her recent court filing, including having her trial be “severed” from her husband’s, along with a “list of all witnesses prosecutors plan to call and any polygraph results of witnesses questioned by law enforcement.”

Wendy, a former professor at The Johns Hopkins University and Wesleyan University, also demanded to know whether there were any “confidential informants” who worked on the investigation and requested copies of all official police reports.

Wendy’s husband does not have a lawyer listed in his case at the time of this publication.

Wendy And Eddie Alleged They Were Robbed In April 2024

Wendy and Eddie’s arrest came over a year after the couple reported an alleged burglary in April 2024, claiming their bedroom had been ransacked and several luxury goods had been stolen.

During the investigation, law enforcement officers noted inconsistencies in Wendy and Eddie’s story and pointed out that their ADT home security system had not been triggered while they were away.

After their arrest, Maryland investigators revealed that many items Wendy and Eddie allegedly claimed were stolen had already been returned to stores for a full refund or were spotted on Wendy’s person in social media posts.

It was revealed that as the investigation progressed, Eddie reportedly gave two statements to insurance agents and denied returning any of the alleged stolen items to stores.

“He was asked if he had other insurance but failed to disclose to Homesite and Jewelers that he was also making a claim with Travelers Insurance,” the police report said.

Wendy and Eddie reportedly signed documents claiming to have lost $450,000 in personal property and $2,500 in building damage.

On April 10, 2024, Travelers Insurance settled a claim with Wendy and Eddie, paying out $25,380. A day later, the couple submitted additional statements to a new insurance company, reporting that nearly 60 items had been stolen during the alleged burglary. Among those items was a pricey ring Wendy and Eddie had already reported stolen to Travelers.

Law enforcement claimed that Eddie didn’t mention his previous claim or $25,000 check from Travelers during his conversations with other insurance companies when police interviewed him on April 22, 2024.

A shocking email from Eddie to Wendy was also intercepted during the investigation, in which Eddie asked his wife if there were any other “high-value items we can add to this inventory listing (i.e., Chanel shoes, etc.)?”

“I’m trying to get the total to exceed $423,000, which is our policy maximum,” the email continued.

Police executed a search and seizure raid on their home at the time of their arrest, recovering at least “15 items that were allegedly stolen during the burglary.”

    Wendy And Eddie Respond

A representative for Wendy and Eddie gave an update on the couple following their arrest and viral mugshots, thanking the public for their support before asking for privacy to deal with their pressing legal woes.

“Dr. Wendy Osefo and her husband, Edward Osefo, are back home safely with their family and in good spirits. They are grateful for the outpouring of concern and support from friends, fans, and colleagues. The Osefos, alongside their legal team, look forward to their day in court. At this time, they respectfully ask for privacy as they focus on their family and the legal process ahead,” the statement read.
