Toronto Comicon (TCC) returns this week from Friday, March 20 to Sunday, March 22.
Held as always in the Metro Toronto Convention Centre’s North Building, the event features all kinds of pop-culture programming. Read on for some of the highlights.
Celebrities
It’s admittedly a bit of a lighter year for TCC, which is already much smaller than sister show Fan Expo. That said, some of the guests include:
- Cary Elwes (Westley in The Princess Bride)
- Mara Wilson (Matilda in Matilda)
- Calgary’s own Steven Ogg (Simon in The Walking Dead)
- Original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles stars (Brian Tochi, Ernie Reyes Jr., François Chau, Kenn Scott and Robbie Rist)
Gaming stars
Notably, the three leads of the massively popular Grand Theft Auto V will be in attendance: Steven Ogg (Trevor), Ned Luke (Michael) and Shawn Fonteno (Franklin). It should be noted that Young Maylay, who played CJ in GTA: San Andreas, was also supposed to attend but had to cancel.
Still, the trio behind one of the biggest entertainment products of all time is nothing to scoff at. Outside of photos and autographs at their tables, they’ll be taking part in panels on Friday at 12:30 p.m. and Saturday at 4 p.m.
Other gaming stars at TCC include:
- JB Blanc (Caustic in Apex Legends)
- Crystal Lee (Phoenix in Marvel Rivals)
- Mallory Low (Hana in Ghost of Yōtei)
- Lucie Pohl (Mercy in Overwatch)
- Jason Spisak (Silco in Arcane)
It’s also worth noting that several of the gaming guests will take part in live D&D games that are played across all three days.
Streaming
To celebrate the March 24 Disney+ premiere of Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, Marvel has teased some kind of themed booth at TCC. For last year’s first season of the show, Marvel had a booth featuring special artwork and a custom t-shirt maker.
Misc.
Other bits of programming include:
- Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 (Marvel has teased some sort of activation ahead of the March 24 premiere of the new season)
- Kpop Demon Hunters Sing-Along — Saturday at 11:30 a.m.
- Shrek 25th anniversary screening with live “All-Star” performance — Sunday at 2 p.m.
- Ted Season 2 premiere screening (first 50 attendees receive a “special door prize” and five winners get a “prize pack”) — Friday at 6 p.m.
The full schedule can be found on the official TCC website.
