The 2026 Oscars have finally arrived.
The 98th Academy Award Ceremony will be held live at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California, on Sunday, March 15, 2026. Comedian Conan O’Brien will host the Oscars for a second straight time, after making his Oscars hosting debut last year.
This year’s Oscars are celebrating all the movies that came out in 2025.
Without further ado, let’s dive into everything you need to know about the most historic award show in Hollywood, and how you can watch it.
Where to watch in Canada
As per usual, Bell has the exclusive Canadian rights to the Oscars — however, there is a twist this year: Crave is also getting the broadcast rights, meaning it will air on both CTV and Crave.
CTV-wise, you can tune in to the show on CTV and CTV2 TV channels, CTV.ca, and the CTV app on iOS, Android, streaming devices, and game consoles. On CTV’s digital platforms, you will need the login details from a TV provider.
As for Crave, you can watch the broadcast on Crave via the website, the iOS and Android mobile apps, streaming devices, and game consoles.
The schedule will look mostly the same as years past. Starting at 5:30 p.m. ET/2:30 p.m. PT, Bell’s pre-show, Etalk Live at the Oscars, will stream on CTV, Crave, and YouTube (only for the pre-show, though). Following the pre-show, at 6:30 p.m. ET/3:30 p.m. PT, The Oscars Red Carpet Show will begin, featuring stars crossing the red carpet alongside interviews as they enter the Dolby Theatre. Immediately following the Oscars, Etalk After The Oscars will begin.
If you are also able to access E!, more pre-Oscars content will be available starting at 2 p.m. ET/11 a.m. PT, and it will also run after the Oscars into the night.
As our Gaming Editor Bradly Shankar noted last year, Hulu will also get the rights to the Oscars in the US.
And the nominees are…
2026 is yet another interesting and star-studded year for the Oscars. For starters, the leader in nominations, Sinners, broke the record for the most Oscar nominations with 16 — surpassing the previous record of 14 shared by All About Eve, La La Land, and Titanic.
Sinners, alongside the father-daughter revolutionary saga One Battle After Another, were Warner Bros. productions, meaning the 102-year-old studio had its best Oscar nominations morning ever, with 33 total nominations. That comes amid the ongoing talk of a sale, with Netflix most recently bowing out of the running.
Here is the list of the nominees for best picture:
- Bugonia (Ed Guiney & Andrew Lowe, Yorgos Lanthimos, Emma Stone and Lars Knudsen)
- F1 (Chad Oman, Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, Joseph Kosinski and Jerry Bruckheimer)
- Frankenstein (Guillermo del Toro, J. Miles Dale and Scott Stuber)
- Hamnet (Liza Marshall, Pippa Harris, Nicolas Gonda, Steven Spielberg and Sam Mendes)
- Marty Supreme (Eli Bush, Ronald Bronstein, Josh Safdie, Anthony Katagas and Timothée Chalamet)
- One Battle After Another (Adam Somner, Sara Murphy and Paul Thomas Anderson)
- The Secret Agent (Emilie Lesclaux)
- Sentimental Value (Maria Ekerhovd and Andrea Berentsen Ottmar)
- Sinners (Zinzi Coogler, Sev Ohanian and Ryan Coogler)
- Train Dreams (Marissa McMahon, Teddy Schwarzman, Will Janowitz, Ashley Schlaifer and Michael Heimler)
Interestingly, Toronto-shot Frankenstein has nine nominations, most of them being for Canadians; Best Picture (J. Miles Dale), Best Achievement in Production Design (Tamara Deverell and Shane Vieau), Achievement in Sound (Christian Cooke, Nelson Ferreira, Nathan Robitaille, and Brad Zoern), and Best Makeup and Hairstyling (Jordan Samuel and Cliona Furey). Guillermo Del Toro, who resides in Toronto, was also involved with the film’s production.
In terms of other Canadian connections, Montreal-based filmmakers Chris Lavis and Maciek Szczerbowski earned a nomination for their animated short The Girl Who Cried Pearls, Montreal-based Alison McAlpine was nominated for Best Documentary Short for Perfectly a Strangeness, alongsid Domee Shi and Maggie Kang being nominated for Best Animated Feature Film for Elio and Kpop Demon Hunters.
Also, for the first time since 2001, there will be a new category: Best Casting, making its Oscar debut. To no surprise at all, Sinners has a nomination within the field.

The Performances
The Oscars have confirmed that Kpop Demon Hunter stars Ejae, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami (the voices behind HUNTR/X) will perform the smash hit song “Golden” at the event.
Sinners is getting a performance as well, with executive producers Raj Kapoor and Katy Mullan noting that the performance “explores the role music plays in the film’s storytelling, and translates this into a cinematic live moment on the Oscars stage,” according to the press release. With this in mind, Miles Caton and Raphael Siddiq will perform the Oscar-nominated song “I Lied To You,” and will be joined by Misty Copeland, Eric Gales, Buddy Guy, Brittany Howard, Christone “Kingfish” Ingram, Jayme Lawson, Li Jun Li, Bobby Rush, Shaboozey, and Alice Smith.
- Alongside these two Oscar-related performances, Josh Groban and the Los Angeles Master Chorale will be performing at the event. Currently, it’s not clear what they will perform, but I imagine Groban’s hit “You Raise Me Up” will be one of the songs.
