Viewers have seen CBS News go through a number of changes since Bari Weiss was recently made editor-in-chief. Recently, a figure with a connection to Liz Cheney has drawn a few reactions. This even includes one from the White House.
Various Figures Have Come & Gone Since The Installation Of Bari Weiss At CBS News
Weiss is a political commentator who was previously known for founding the media company, The Free Press. She has also worked for outlets including The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times.
This past October, Paramount Skydance purchased The Free Press and installed Weiss as CBS News’ editor-in-chief. Since then, the network has seen layoffs, new hires, and people taking on new roles at the network, such as Tony Dokoupil moving from CBS Mornings to CBS Evening News.
Recently, it was announced that Jeremy Adler is set to join the network’s communications team. Adler previously served as the senior communications advisor for Liz Cheney, from 2019 to 2023.
Cheney is the daughter of former vice president Dick Cheney and Wyoming representative. She has become known for her vocal opposition to President Donald Trump in recent years, starting with his first term.

As noted by Axios, Adler’s new role was confirmed by “two people” who were said to be familiar with the move. Since the news has come out, however, it’s already gotten a reaction from the White House.
One White House Staffer Named Bari Weiss In A Statement Concerning The Move
Speaking with the outlet, a White House official was quoted, “The idea CBS would hire Liz Cheney’s flack, who has worked to jail President Trump, and make it impossible for anybody who supported the president to get hired, is insanity.”
Weiss was directly named in the statement, with the staffer adding, “What the hell is Bari Weiss thinking?” At this time, it was noted that CBS has not responded to the statement.

As noted by the outlet, in addition to his work for Cheney, Adler previously worked at the Republican super PAC America Rising. He was also a regional press secretary on Marco Rubio’s 2016 presidential campaign. Most recently, he worked for a private communications consultancy, Upland Workshop.

This news also comes out as CBS News has faced a number of changes in recent months. Many of the network’s high-profile journalists, including Scott MacFarlane and Anderson Cooper, have left the network or didn’t renew their contracts. Meanwhile, earlier this month, CBS News renewed their contract with Gayle King.
