The View is no stranger to politics, as the co-hosts have discussed countless current events over the years. However, they recently got an interesting response following a discussion during a recent episode. The White House even shared a response after the co-hosts discussed President Donald Trump. This also follows previous responses from the White House concerning the show throughout last year.
A Certain Amendment Became A Topic Of Interest During A Recent Episode Of The View
Since 1997, viewers have tuned in to The View and have seen the co-hosts discuss a number of current events, from multiple co-hosts. Currently, the panel is made up of Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, Alyssa Farah Griffin, and Ana Navarro.
Naturally, politics have often been a big focus on the show and these discussions have even made headlines. Recently, the hosts received an interesting response after discussing President Donald Trump.
During an episode airing this past Wednesday, Whoopi Goldberg gave a plea to use the 25th Amendment to oust Donald Trump from office. During the discussion, she touched on Trump’s behavior, as well as current discussions concerning Greenland and the recent shooting of Renee Nicole Good in Minnesota.
The White House Also Issued Statements Concerning Other Co-Hosts Over The Past Months
Citing mental issues, and claiming Trump was “slipping,” Goldberg shared she felt “it’s time” to use the amendment, which allows the vice president and cabinet to deem a president unfit to hold office. Sunny Hostin also called Trump a “useful idiot” who could aid problematic world leaders with various agendas.
Since the episode, the co-hosts have received a response from the White House. Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, White House spokesperson Davis Ingle shared, “Whoopi Goldberg and Sunny Hostin [are] a pair of useful idiots that have no talent and very poorly rated TV show.”
In a recent press release, however, ABC News claimed The View was doing well with ratings since coming back from its holiday break. Meanwhile, Ingle continued, “President Trump will continue to deliver on his commonsense America First agenda that nearly 80 million Americans voted for.”
This is not the first time the White House has issued a statement in response to political discussions on The View. As previously reported, a representative also spoke with the outlet back in August, criticizing Ana Navarro. This followed her criticizing deportation policies within the Trump administration.
