The smash hit Netflix series Wednesday, a revamp of the iconic Adams Family franchise, is hopefully set to return to the platform in 2027, and the site has shared a new announcement video has revealed some exciting details.
Wednesday focuses on the Adams family’s daughter, Wednesday, played by Jenna Ortega, as she takes on Nevermore Academy. There she finds herself surrounded by magic and secrets. Gwendoline Christie, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Riki Lindhome, Emma Myers, Percy Hynes White, Hunter Doohan and Christina Ricci also starred in the first 2022 season, which reportedly broke Netflix streaming records.
This new announcement video has confirmed that Winona Ryder, Eva Green, and Chris Sarandon will join the cast for the third season and all reunite with director Tim Burton for the project. Ryder appeared in Burton’s Beetlejuice and Edward Scissorhands, while Sarandon voiced Jack Skeleton in The Nightmare Before Christmas, which Burton produced. Green starred in the filmmaker’s Dark Shadows and Miss Peregrine.
Ryder also starred in the hit Netflix show Stranger Things, which oversaw a dramatic conclusion in late 2025 following a 2016 debut. It has been revealed that Ryder will appear as a character called Tabitha, while Green takes on the role of Aunt Ophelia.
Netflix have revealed this new season sees “Nevermore…back in session as Wednesday tangles with a new principal, a devious campus stalker, and a waning grip on her psychic powers.”
Season one debuted at the number one spot on Netflix in 83 countries, and thanks to a total of 341 million hours, it took the crown for holding the most hours viewed in a week for an English-language Netflix series. Additionally, it only took three weeks for the show to become Netflix’s second-most-watched show in the English-language.
Season two debuted in the summer of 2025 and topped the first season on Rotten Tomatoes with an 87% score, thanks to 92 reviews.
