Actor Luke Grimes might be a star, but he moved away from Hollywood a few years back. However, the actor would learn the hard way that the move wouldn’t sit well with everyone around him. Grimes opened up about this during a recent appearance. However, he also shared why the move was so important to him.
Luke Grimes Has Brought Kayce Dutton To Life On Yellowstone & Marshals
As an actor, Grimes is known for a variety of roles. Many know him for playing Navy SEAL Marc Alan Lee in American Sniper. The following year, he appeared as Elliot in Fifty Shades of Grey, reprising the role in the film’s sequels.
In 2018, Grimes would take on the role of Kayce Dutton on Yellowstone. After the show ended in 2024, he once again took on the character in the spin-off, Marshals, which debuted in 2026.
On the show, Grimes’ character joins a group of U.S. Marshals protecting Montana. In addition, Grimes himself moved his family to the state’s Bitterroot Valley in 2020.
Recently, the actor sat with Joe Rogan and shared that moving to the state from Los Angeles hasn’t always been easy. Reportedly, the move especially upset some locals.
Noting this, Rogan mused, “Well, your show made a lot of f–king people move out there, though.” In response, Grimes admitted, “That’s true. Yeah. And they’re not happy about it.”
In Spite Of Any Issues, Grimes Previously Shared What Made Montana Feel Like ‘Home’
The actor then shared an incident when the family got a visit from their California friends. As he explained, “The valley that I live in, we had some people come visit us. Our friends from California drove out, and we went on a hike, and we were in their car. And they had, you know, Cali plates.” However, after returning from a hike, he noticed that someone had written “Go back” in the dust on their cars.
Grimes noted that the story has caused him to become quite private about where he lives. He shared, “Like, people are super weird about it, so I don’t tell anyone exactly where I’m at because they would get really mad at me.”
The actor also shared that he had to be careful around public places. He shared, “I can’t go to bars there anymore because whatever that one idiot is, is at the bar, and he can’t wait to start a fight with me.” As he noted, this is a “lose-lose” situation for him, as he’ll either get beaten up or end up sued if he fights back.
However, the move to Montana was still a personal one for him. Previously speaking with Fox News Digital, he shared, “I was going up there three or four months out of the year, and then anytime we’d get done filming, and I’d come back here, it sort of felt like I was leaving home rather than going back home.”
