Since the installation of Bari Weiss as editor-in-chief back in October, viewers have seen multiple changes take place at CBS News. In particular, multiple figures have lost their positions at 60 Minutes. However, news has come out about multiple figures hired for the news program, including the promotion of Norah O’Donnell.

Norah O’Donnell Previously Served As A Contributing Correspondent For 60 Minutes

O’Donnell previously served as the anchor of CBS Evening News from 2019 to 2025. She also co-anchored CBS This Morning from 2012 to 2019.

In addition, O’Donnell has served as a contributing correspondent for 60 Minutes. However, CBS News would make a big announcement concerning O’Donnell’s role with the program since she stepped down from her position at CBS Evening News last year.

Recently installed executive producer Nick Bilton announced that O’Donnell was promoted to a full 60 Minutes correspondent. Taking to X, Bilton shared in a statement, “Norah is a powerhouse. You’ve seen her all over the network. She’s launched a new podcast. And you’ll see much more of her in our halls because Norah will be a correspondent on 60 Minutes.”

Nick Bilton Also Announced Four New Staffers Will Be Joining The Program

In addition, four other figures have been hired at the network. These include New York Times opinion columnist Ross Douthat, who will serve as a correspondent. The three others include documentary filmmaker Sebastian Junger, former Vice News journalist Gianna Toboni, and CBS News’ new senior global affairs correspondent Trevor Phillips.

Bilton also highlighted them in his post, discussing their various backgrounds. As he wrote, “Ross, Sebastian, Gianna and Trevor are entrepreneurial journalists who understand how to reach modern audiences. Between them they have written books and magazine articles, produced documentaries, TV shows and podcasts, hosted live events and built brands on independent platforms.”

The new hires will join returning 60 Minutes staff Lesley Stahl, Bill Whitaker and Jon Wertheim. As previously reported, the three shared that they would stay on with the program back in June. In spite of the ongoing drama concerning the show, they shared that they “don’t want to see 60 Minutes die.”

Meanwhile, many figures have left 60 Minutes over the past months, both voluntarily and not. These include Anderson Cooper, Tanya Simon, Sharyn Alfonsi, Scott Pelley, and Draggan Mihailovich.
