Lori Loughlin’s Abigail Stanton was a prominent part of When Calls the Heart during its early years. Recently, big news has been revealed concerning the character. Since then, however, Loughlin herself had a bit of a surprise for fans.
Lori Loughlin Originally Left When Calls The Heart Around Season 6
For many, Loughlin’s best-known role was playing Rebecca ‘Aunt Becky’ Donaldson Katsopolis on the ABC sitcom, Full House. She later reprised the role for the Netflix spin-off, Fuller House.
Loughlin was also a main part of When Calls the Heart during the very start. On the show, she played Hope Valley resident, Abigail Stanton, who lost her husband and son in a mining accident, serving as one of Elizabeth’s first friends in the area.
Halfway through the sixth season, however, the character was written out of the show, amid Loughlin’s legal issues concerning the 2019 college admissions scandal. At the time, the character moved “back East.”
As previously reported, Loughlin will return to the series as it has been renewed for Season 14. However, it turns out that fans didn’t have to wait until the new season to see Loughlin back in action.
Erin Krakow Also Shared Her Reaction To Her Co-Star’s Return
The show recently aired its Season 13 finale, “Harvest Moon,” which depicts Elizabeth and Nathan’s engagement. During a monologue from Elizabeth, a car rolls onto Hope Valley’s main street, pulling over in front of the Visitor’s Center.
Abigail steps out of the car. She looks around and can be heard saying, “It’s good to be home,” celebrating her return to the show.

Erin Krakow, who plays Elizabeth, previously expressed her excitement over Loughlin’s return with People back in December. At the time, she shared, “I’m so happy. Lori is one of my best friends. She has such a good heart and is so kind and generous and loving. And getting to spend time with her is a real gift.”
As Krakow continued, “I really feel like her character has been missed in Hope Valley. The fact that we’re getting to bring back Abigail and learn about where she’s been and see her reconnect with all of these characters that we know and love, it’s just going to be so special for the fans, certainly. But it’s also so special for our whole cast and crew because we’ve been missing her, and I just can’t wait for that reunion.”
