Google is releasing a new tool that is redefining how users utilize AI.
The new tool, Skills, takes prompts such as “read this page” or “how many calories are in this recipe?” and allows users to save them for later use. There is no need to retype old prompts or save them elsewhere for later use. If a prompt is needed for a task, typing “/” in the Google Gemini bar will bring up the skill, which can be applied even if it has not been used for a while.
According to Google, early testers have found Skills useful in health, price comparison between different item listings and scanning documents for specific information. Skills are flexible in that they can be rewritten and saved to adapt to users’ needs.
Google is also launching a library of skills geared for common tasks and workflows. This could include deciding a diet that helps achieve specific and unique health goals, finding the perfect gift for a loved one, or to help write sentences and stories that are more engaging for audiences.
