Lamar Odom recently sat down for an interview with Jenna Bush Hager and Sheinelle Jones on Today. However, certain comments from the conversation later appeared to have sparked criticism from Odom’s ex, Khloé Kardashian. Since then, the two Today co-hosts have recently shared their own response to the story.
Lamar Odom Appeared On Today with Jenna & Sheinelle Earlier This Month
Today with Jenna & Sheinelle stars Jenna Bush Hager and Sheinelle Jones and serves the fourth hour of Today. The segment reached its modern format after Sheinelle joined Jenna as a co-host earlier this year.
On April 6, the two interviewed former professional basketball player Lamar Odom. The former Los Angeles Laker’s comments, however, sparked a reaction from Khloé Kardashian, to whom Odom was married from 2009 to 2016, on her Khloé in Wonderland podcast.
During the interview, Odom spoke out about claims that Kardashian saved his life. As he attributed things, “In some ways, God saved my life. My Lord saved my life.” He also rejected the claim that his late father Joe wanted to take him off life support during his 2015 overdose. At the time, he shared, “I just can’t see him ever, ever doing that.”
For her part, Khloé felt that she had originally moved on from what happened. However, after watching her ex doing “press,” she shared, “Claiming or insinuating that I’m a liar, all these things, discrediting me, saying that I wasn’t the one that helped him… I feel so dumb.” She added that she was “pissed that I’m even involved.”
The Co-Hosts Expressed Some Surprise At The Interview Themselves During Their Response
Since then, however, Bush Hager and Jones have reacted to Kardashian’s own response. Jones admitted that she was worried that Odom wouldn’t give Khloé her due.
Bush Hager admitted, “He didn’t.” They both agreed that Kardashian was a “wonderful human being” after watching the documentary, Untold: The Death & Life of Lamar Odom.
Ultimately, Bush Hager and Jones painted Khloé as a supportive and caring person. Sheinelle, calling herself an “optimist,” mused that Odom would give his ex some flowers and shared her surprise that he didn’t. At one point, she admitted that she didn’t “know if he’s gonna give her her due.”
As noted by People, Jenna added, “Khloé, you’re incredible. Our big headlines are: she’s an amazing woman, and when someone shows you who they are, you gotta believe it.”
