Scott Wedgewood of Brampton, Ontario and MacKenzie Blackwood of Thunder Bay, Ontario have won the 2025-26 William M. Jennings Trophy. The trophy is presented to the goaltenders on the team that have given up the fewest number of goals during the regular season. In order to receive the award, each goaltender must have played a minimum of 25 games. Wedgewood played 45 games for the Avalanche this past season and Blackwood played 39 games.
As a team, the Avalanche only gave up 203 goals in 2025-26. That was the fewest number of goals by 23. The Dallas Stars had the second fewest goals allowed as they only had 226 goals against. Colorado actually led the NHL in goals this season (302) too. The last time a team led the NHL in goals and had the fewest goals against in a single season were the Vancouver Canucks. They scored 262 goals and only gave up 185 goals in 2010-11.
This past season, Wedgewood had a record of 31 wins, six regulation losses and six losses in extra time with four shutouts. He had a goals against average of 2.02 and a save percentage of .921. Blackwood had a record of 23 wins, 10 regulation losses and two losses in extra time with three shutouts, a goals against average of 2.51 and a save percentage of .904. Colorado will next face the Los Angeles Kings in the first round of the postseason starting Sunday.
