Dreyer is a meteorologist known for her work with NBC News. In particular, she often appears on Today as a weather correspondent and substitute anchor.
In her personal life, Dreyer is married to NBC News producer and cameraman Brian Fichera in 2012. The two share three children and live in the New York area. Dreyer and Fichera announced that they had separated in 2025, but announced plans to co-parent their children.
Recently, Dreyer sat down with NBC News’ Vicky Nguyen for her podcast, “The Parent Chat.” During a discussion, the two talked about how social media can impact kids.
However, Dreyer admitted that she found herself impacted by social media, even as an adult. She shared, “I feel icky after I look at Instagram. I’m feeling insecure, and I’m not a very insecure person.”
“I know my lane, I’m confident in my areas. But I’ll watch Instagram and I’m like, ‘Man, should I be going to Fashion Week? Because it seems like everybody I know here is going to Fashion Week.’ And I’m starting to feel insecure about myself.”
Dyland Dreyer & Vicky Nguyen Talked About The Issues Kids Face On Social Media
Nguyen shared surprise at this, noting how accomplished Dreyer had been in her life. Dreyer herself replied, “[I have] a successful job. I’m a great mom, but it still eats away at you. So, I love that you can have that.”
Dreyer’s confession came after Nguyen shared that she had banned her eldest daughter from joining social media. She shares three girls with her husband, Brian. She also noted that she likes to “add a little bit of friction” in her daughters’ lives.
Thanks to this, Nguyen was asked if her daughter ever fought her on this. She teased, “Luckily, she’s actually a pretty rule-abiding, classic eldest daughter. And so, she recently did a little presentation about why it would be great for her to have access to Instagram.”
As the conversation continued, the two discussed the issues that social media seems to have proliferated, like self-esteem, anxiety, and body issues, noting that these things impact both boys and girls. For her part, Dreyer felt that kids are “exposed to enough of it.”
