Sheinelle Jones, known for her work with Today, tragically lost her husband, Uche Ojeh, last year. Recently, she took to social media to honor her late spouse. In addition, she also wanted to express her thanks to fans who supported her during this time.
Today‘s Sheinelle Jones Paid Tribute To Uche As She Celebrated Two Milestones
Jones first joined Today back in 2014, initially as part of Weekend Today, later becoming part of the show’s third hour. Recently, she became the co-host of Today with Jenna & Sheinelle alongside Jenna Bush Hager, taking over for Hoda Kotb.
In her personal life, Sheinelle married Uche Ojeh in 2007, sharing three children with him. Tragically, it was announced that Uche had passed away in May 2025 after battling aggressive glioblastoma.
Recently, Jones celebrated her 48th birthday on April 19. This had been her first birthday after losing her husband. While thinking of her husband, Jones honored him in a post on social media.
As Jones wrote, “As I literally sit here – in tears – on an airplane headed home, I think it’s the perfect moment to check in with you. Today is my 48th birthday, and to be honest – I can’t stop crying. Thankful tears, painful tears because it’s my first without Uche, and tears full of gratitude reflecting on the last 7 days. I have never felt so much love in my life.”
However, Sheinelle’s birthday wasn’t the only thing she was celebrating. She was also currently on tour to promote her book, Through Mom’s Eyes: Simple Wisdom from Mothers Who Raised Extraordinary Humans.
Jones Ended The Post With A Touching Share About Uche
In the carousel post, Sheinelle started things off with an image of her being presented with a big pink cake. This was followed by a number of photos of her tour, filled with attendees holding up copies of her book.
Sheinelle took time to thank those who supported her during her tour. She continued, “Thank you for the prayers and support over the last year. I don’t have the words to express how it feels to have SOLD OUT crowds in every city … and what it feels like to take these group photos with your smiling faces.”
However, as she concluded her post, Sheinelle took time to honor her husband, especially in connection with her special day. She shared, Uche loved The Beatles; as I mark the beginning of ’48’ – I do .. feel the sun. Thank you so, so much,” finishing the post with a birthday cake emoji.
