Public Opinion have announced their new album, The Curse of Public Opinion, out Aug. 7 via SideOneDummy. Vocalist Kevin Hart describes the album as an outlet for his quieter, internalized anger after growing tired of surface-level feel-good messages and social media-style therapy.
“A lot of bands make music about feeling bad, but they’re so dialed-in,” Hart says. “I think our message is a little more messy, but a lot more human. At the end of the day, I’m kind of a quiet, angry guy. I don’t explode; I implode. So when it comes to the songs I don’t try to stop all that from coming through — people hear the music and they go, ‘Sounds great, but how are you…’”

Album opener and lead single “Balloon Man Running” uses raw rock riffs to capture the frustrating feeling of chasing happiness without ever reaching it, all catalyzed by an endless running figure Hart relates to.
This week, Public Opinion begin their tour supporting Drug Church and White Reaper and will play a handful of shows with Squint later this summer.
