The Montreal Canadiens beat the Tampa Bay Lightning 3-2 in overtime on Friday night at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec. With the win in game three of the first round playoff series in the Eastern Conference, the Canadiens lead the Lightning two games to one in the best out of seven series.
Two Canadians had multi-point games for the Canadiens. Centre Kirby Dach of Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta had one goal and one assist for two points, and centre Zachary Bolduc of Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, had two assists. It was actually an exceptional game for Dach and Bolduc as they were both a +3.
The other two Canadiens goal scorers were Alexandre Texier and defenseman Lane Hutson. Texier had one goal and one assist for two points, and Hutson scored the overtime winner from Texier and Bolduc at 2:09 of the extra period.
What was most impressive performance of the Dach-Texier-Bolduc line is the fact it is the Canadiens’s fourth line, and received significantly less ice time in game three than the other three Canadiens forward lines. We also saw greatness from Canadiens goaltender Jakub Dobes, who definitely outplayed Lightning goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy, who won the Vezina Trophy seven years ago. Game four is in Montreal on Sunday evening.
