Team Canada defeated South Korea 6-4 to open the 2026 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championships from the Geneva Sous-Moulin Sports Center in Geneva, Switzerland on Saturday. The Canadian team is comprised of Kadriana Lott of Selkirk, Manitoba, and her husband Colton Lott of Selkirk.
The Lotts got off to a fantastic start in the contest as they scored three points in the first end to take a commanding 3-0 lead. They then stole another point in the fourth end to take a commanding 5-1 lead. The South Koreans were comprised of Seon-yeong Kim and Yeong-seok Jeong.
Kadriana and Colton Lott qualified to represent Canada at the 2026 World Mixed Doubles Championships by winning the 2025 Canadian Mixed Doubles Curling Championship in Summerside, Prince Edward Island. In the final, the Lotts defeated Marlee Powers and Luke Saunders of Halifax, Nova Scotia 9-8 in an extra end. Luke Saunders is the son of Canadian curling legend Colleen Jones, who died this past November of cancer.
This was the second consecutive Canadian Mixed Doubles Championship title for Kadriana and Colton Lott. They won in 2024 as well in Fredericton, New Brunswick.
After the first day of the World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship, Canada is one of 10 nations to win their opening game. The other nine countries are Japan, France, Australia, Sweden, Norway, Italy, Finland, Scotland and Germany.
