The Los Angeles Chargers have selected Canadian offensive lineman Logan Taylor with the 202nd overall pick in the sixth round of the 2026 NFL Draft.
The Chargers already selected Canadian defensive lineman Akheem Mesidor with the 22nd overall pick in the first round on Thursday night. Taylor is the fourth player from north of the border on the team’s roster, joining Mesidor, defensive back Deane Leonard, and tight end Tanner McLachlan.
The last time an NFL team selected two Canadians in the same draft was the Baltimore Ravens in 2014, when they took defensive lineman Brent Urban and offensive lineman John Urschel.
A native of Lunenburg, N.S., Taylor is just the third player from the province of Nova Scotia to ever be taken in the NFL Draft. Receiver Tyrone Williams was taken in the ninth round of the 1992 Draft by the Phoenix Cardinals. Kicker Eddie Murray, who was born in Halifax but raised in B.C., was drafted in the seventh round by the Detroit Lions in 1980.
Taylor was named second-team All-ACC at Boston College in 2025, making eight starts at right guard, three starts at left tackle, and one start at right tackle. He spent the last three seasons of his collegiate career with the Eagles, earning two All-ACC honourable mentions and making 36 total starts.
The versatile blocker started his collegiate career at the University of Virginia, making 10 starts in 2022. He finished secondary school at Episcopal High School in Alexandria, Va., in order to attract NCAA offers.
The six-foot-seven, 314-pound Canadian received invitations to the Senior Bowl and the NFL Combine during the pre-draft process. He ran an official 5.19-second forty-yard dash with a 1.82-second ten-yard split, a 7.75-second three-cone drill, and a 4.84 short shuttle, while posting a 31-inch vertical jump and a nine-foot broad jump.
The final scouting bureau rankings had Taylor as the second-rated prospect in the 2026 CFL Draft, but he is not expected to be selected until the mid-rounds due to his NFL opportunity.
The Chargers went 11-6 last season, their second under head coach Jim Harbaugh, losing in the AFC Wild Card playoffs to the New England Patriots.
The 2026 NFL Draft will conclude Saturday, April 25, in Pittsburgh, Pa. As many as three Canadians are expected to be selected, with several others anticipated to sign contracts as undrafted free agents after the fact.
