Season 7 Unexpected star Amya is spilling the tea on her breakup with her boyfriend and baby daddy, Jose. The two struggled the whole season as she felt he did not understand her struggles and that he was lazy. In the preview for the update episode, it comes out that she is now dating a woman. Amya & Jose Struggled Because She Thought He Was Lazy
Despite Jose working part-time, it was only eight hours a week, and Amya wanted more from him. She believed that she was going through a really hard time, being at home with Sammy, and struggling postpartum. The Unexpected star had gained a lot of weight and did not feel like herself. Some viewers believed she was always nagging or picking on Jose when he was just trying to have fun with her. By the end of the season, she had dropped a good amount of weight, thanks to a trainer, and was feeling good.
In the trailer for next week’s update episode, Amya is dating a woman, and she is no longer with Jose. However, she had previously dated women but stated that it was because she did not think guys liked her. That was why she never got a proper sex talk from her mother, Mama G, because she was a lesbian. In a new video, Amya explained that she and Jose had broken up several times, but finally, she asked him why he did not love her anymore. He stated that he didn’t know, and that made her want to leave. She realized that she wanted better, and even though he was a good dad, he was not a good partner.

Mama G can be heard in the background, filling in the blanks as to what went down. Should she have been there, or should Amya have spoken for herself? Unexpected fans praised Mama G for how well she raised Amya because she appeared to be very mature in their eyes.
Is Anyone Shocked?
After hearing that the Unexpected couple split and why, was anyone shocked? The Las Vegas, Nevada couple had struggled for some time, and Amya confessed that Jose broke up with her when she was pregnant. Keep in mind that they are only sixteen, so neither should be cruelly attacked. However, she did note that they work better apart than as a couple. No one was all that surprised that it ended, and they were honest about their feelings:
- Truthfully, it was never going to last long. They are teenagers and they had a baby thrown in. Thankfully, it sounds like they both have good heads on their shoulders and will continue to have a great co-parenting relationship.
- She’s young and she has to think about what is best for her and her child. And we all want the best for her and Mama G.
- He’s 16, he’s got another 10 years before his frontal lobe fully develops. Hopefully he learns in time to be a better partner.
