Comedian Kathy Griffin knows first-hand the consequences of taking a joke too far. She nearly lost her career after an ill-advised photo shoot that many took as a threat against President Trump. The former Bravo star weighed in on the ongoing feud between the President and late-night host Jimmy Kimmel. Keep reading to find out her thoughts on the situation.
Kathy Griffin Makes Comeback After Getting ‘Canceled’
Kathy Griffin built an entire career based on inappropriate and often shocking jokes. She put her life on display for years on Bravo’s My Life on the D-List. The series ended in 2010 after six seasons. She went on to welcome more career opportunities, including co-hosting CNN’s New Year’s Eve celebration with Anderson Cooper.
However, she went way too far in 2017 with her criticism of President Trump during his first term. Kathy Griffin took part in a controversial photo shoot, where she held a beheaded bloody head that resembled Trump. People talk about celebrities getting ‘canceled’ for their behavior. Kathy Griffin is one of the few who actually suffered consequences for her actions.
She was immediately let go from CNN and replaced by Bravo’s Andy Cohen. The comedian lost numerous gigs and was blacklisted for years. But she’s finally making a comeback nearly a decade later. Kathy Griffin hosts her own show on YouTube. She discussed the ongoing feud between Jimmy Kimmel and President Trump in a recent episode.

Former Bravo Star Speaks Out On Jimmy Kimmel’s Feud With Trump
Kathy Griffin has reclaimed her career with the Talk Your Head Off YouTube channel. She recently debuted a shocking new hair transformation, a year after getting a life-changing facelift. So far, her show hasn’t received any of President Trump’s attention. He’s too focused on The View and Jimmy Kimmel.
The late-night talk show host came under fire for a joke he made about President Trump and the First Lady days before a shooting disrupted the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. Since he wasn’t invited to the event, Jimmy Kimmel hosted a mock event on late-night television. He joked that Melania Trump looked like an “expectant widow” when arriving at the fictional dinner.
The joke resurfaced after an intruder crashed the real event. A secret service agent was reportedly hit by a bullet, but saved by his vest. No one else was injured. However, President Trump, the First Lady, and many conservatives began pressuring ABC to fire Jimmy Kimmel.
Kathy Griffin defended the late-night host when speaking about the situation on her YouTube show. “Now, the joke was made prior to the alleged assassination attempt. That is the most important thing to remember, so of course the MAGA people are losing their minds, and I guess they think Jimmy Kimmel manifested this or something,” she said.
The comedian went on to remind everyone that Jimmy Kimmel has the right to free speech, as all of us do. She expressed regret that no one stood up for her in 2017. “My First Amendment rights were truly violated because I had the actual Department of Justice coming after me, not a private company, so that’s what’s happening to Jimmy right now,” Kathy Griffin said.
ABC has yet to respond in any way to calls for Jimmy Kimmel to be punished for his joke. Stay tuned for the next move in the ongoing feud between the late-night host and President Trump.
