President Trump has a tense, often love-hate relationship with the press. He often calls the media out as “fake news” when he disagrees with something they report. The President has a history of singling out female reporters in particular. In his latest rant, he called them “nothing special.” Keep reading for all the details on his statement.
President Trump’s History Targeting Female Reporters
Before he was President, Donald J. Trump was close with the press. Especially in New York City when he was a real estate developer. He allegedly sold or planted stories to the National Enquirer and other outlets. However, his relationship with the press changed drastically once he became President. The media often puts a negative spin on anything he does, knowing it will give them social media clicks and engagements.
As President, he speaks to the press nearly every day. However, he often calls out female reporters and, at times, even insults them. In November 2025, he said “Quiet, Piggy” to a female reporter when she tried to ask a question about the Epstein Files.
He has blasted several female reporters as “terrible” and “obnoxious.” CNN’s Kaitlan Collins is a frequent target, branded as “stupid and nasty.” Despite his tense relationship with the media, President Trump continues to give interviews and they don’t always go well for him.
Calls 60 Minutes Correspondent ‘Nothing Special’ In Scathing Attack
President Trump sat for an interview with 60 Minutes a few days after a shocking shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. The incident, which happened on April 25, has been referred to as an assassination attempt, though the details are still murky.
The alleged shooter, Cole Allen, left behind a manifesto detailing his grievances with the Trump administration. The manifest, which you can read here, details plans to attack Trump officials “from highest-ranking to lowest.” FBI Director Kash Patel was specifically mentioned as NOT a target.
The shooter was stopped by Secret Service before gaining access to the dinner, which was attended by many high-ranking officials. The shooter was arrested. His manifesto spelled out the reason for the attack. “And I am no longer willing to permit a pedophile, rapist, and traitor to coat my hands with his crimes,” he wrote in the note, though he didn’t specify who he was talking about.

CBS News senior correspondent Norah O’Donnell interviewed President Trump about the incident. She read from the manifesto, prompting an angry reaction from the President. “I was waiting for you to read that because I knew you would because you’re horrible people, horrible people. Yeah, he did write that. I’m not a rapist. I didn’t rape anybody. I’m not a pedophile.”
In an interview with Salem News Channel this week, President Trump slammed Norah O’Donnell for the interview. “She’s terrible. I mean, she’s interviewed me before. She’s a regular person that gets paid a lot of money,” he said.
The President continued, “She’s no different — I could get any woman off the street, practically, and they would do just as good a job as her. There’s nothing special.” President Trump said he didn’t walk out of the interview in response to the question because that would make it a bigger story.
The 60 Minutes interview was 90 minutes, but only 30 minutes or so aired on CBS. You can watch the full, unedited interview above. Tell us in the comments what you think about the President constantly attacking female reporters.
