Melania Trump Demands ABC Fire Late-Night Host
Like many comedians, Jimmy Kimmel has taken aim at President Trump many times since he was elected to his first term in 2017. However, since his reelection, the jokes have gotten harsher and more frequent. President Trump isn’t his only target these days.
The late-night host has added First Lady Melania Trump to the jokes. However, one recent joke crossed the line, according to the Trumps. Jimmy Kimmel skipped the White House Correspondents’ Dinner but couldn’t resist poking fun at the event with a sketch pretending to be at the event days before the real dinner.
Unfortunately, the real dinner was postponed after a civilian crashed the event, brandishing a gun. After he was arrested, a manifesto was found claiming that President Trump and other high-ranking officials were the targets. A Secret Service agent was reportedly hit with a bullet but wasn’t injured.
Jimmy Kimmel wasn’t at the event, but his previous joke of referring to Melania Trump as an “expectant widow” resurfaced. The reaction to the joke was mixed. The late-night show host received surprising support from some conservative figures in the media who supported his First Amendment right to make the harmless joke.
Jimmy Kimmel Calls The First Lady A ‘Buzzkill’ Amid Feud
The President and First Lady didn’t find the joke funny. In a rare public comment, Melania Trump demanded ABC fire Jimmy Kimmel. The network hasn’t yet, but the FCC is reportedly considering revoking the network’s broadcasting license.
Despite the possible career-ending joke, Jimmy Kimmel refuses to bow down to the President and stay silent. Instead, he has doubled down on joking about the country’s leader and his wife. In one recent monologue, Jimmy Kimmel poked fun at a photo the President shared on Truth Social.
“At 11:04, he posted this even more unbelievable picture of Melania smiling. I don’t know the last time we saw that,” he quipped on Live With Jimmy Kimmel!
The late-night host also joked about Trump’s remarks at an event over the weekend that his wife hates it when he dances to The Village People’s “YMCA,” which the President called “the gay national anthem.”
“Melania hates when you do things? No way! I can’t believe it. What a buzzkill. Why would she hate that? It’s so much fun. He’s just trying to have fun,” Jimmy Kimmel joked. While he’s not backing down to pressure from the White House to stop joking about the President, the jokes are a little toned down compared to previous jokes.
