Citadel’s Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Pirates of the Caribbean star Orlando Bloom will star as the leading duo in director Matt Smukler‘s upcoming survival thriller, Reset, working from a script penned by Jordan Rawlins.
The film will centre on a young woman, played by Chopra Jonas, who awakes in the middle of nowhere in the wild with no recollection of who she is or how she got there. It seems her only hope may be trusting a stranger, Bloom, even though he may be concealing his own secrets.
“I was looking for a pairing where attraction and mistrust could effortlessly coexist,” Smukler shared. “Priyanka and Orlando have this uncanny ability to make you believe both at once.”
The director also stated that his stars’ “chemistry is undeniable.”
Reset is scheduled for an August production, with the stars helping out: Bloom will produce for Amazing Owl, while Chopra Jonas will do so for Purple Pebble Pictures. Additional production credit will be shared between Fratricidal Films’ Jon and Erich Hoeber, Chemically Altered’s Michael Lazarovitch and Rhodes Entertainment’s Matthew Rhodes. Nadine de Barros is credited as executive producer.
The Hoebers stated: “Jordan Rawlins and Matt Smukler have created a gripping story of survival, romance, suspense, and deceit, replete with shocking twists, and we’re thrilled to have partnered with Priyanka and Orlando to bring it to the screen.”
Smukler’s additional film credits include 2020’s Wildflower and 2012’s The Hiccup. Meanwhile, Chopra Jonas has recently appeared in Frank E. Flowers’ The Bluff and the action-comedy, Head of State, by Ilya Naishuller. The actress will also appear in the upcoming comedy, Judgement Day, by Nicholas Stoller.
Bloom has just stepped off the release of the action-comedy, Deep Cover, by director Tom Kingsley. He is also scheduled to appear in Wizards, a stoner comedy by filmmaker David Michôd, and in Werner Herzog’s drama Bucking Fastard.
