Adrien Brody wore a bespoke brooch to the 2026 Met Gala, and the story behind the piece is worth knowing.

After the event, the Oscar-winning actor posted on Instagram to credit the jeweler by name. “What a lovely night and exhibition at the #metgala,” he wrote, tagging designer Elsa Jin. “Thank you @elsajin519 for the bespoke brooch, Swan Lake, reflecting your work beautifully.”

The Swan Lake reference anchors the whole piece. Tchaikovsky’s ballet premiered in 1877 and has occupied a central place in classical art ever since. Designers have pulled from its imagery for generations, drawn to its combination of movement, drama, and formal beauty. That source material carries real artistic weight. Jin clearly took the assignment seriously.

What makes this post stand out is the credit itself. The Met Gala is the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s annual fundraiser for its Costume Institute, and it’s one of the biggest fashion events of the year. Every outlet covering the red carpet picks up the names attached to the looks. By tagging Jin directly and naming her in the caption, Brody sent her work into that entire press cycle. That’s meaningful exposure for an independent jeweler.

Most red-carpet accessories get credited in post-event roundup articles by fashion journalists. A direct tag from the wearer is different. It’s immediate and personal, and it reaches Brody’s own audience without waiting on editorial placement. Brody spelled out Jin’s handle, @elsajin519, clearly. Anyone curious enough to look can find her directly.

Brody has long carried a seriousness about craft. It shows up throughout his career. He won the Academy Award for Best Actor in 2003 for The Pianist, directed by Roman Polanski. He was 29 at the time, making him the youngest Best Actor winner in Oscar history. The film follows Wladyslaw Szpilman, a Polish musician and Warsaw Ghetto survivor. The performance required a full physical transformation. Brody famously lost significant weight for the role, and it’s the work he’s most associated with today.

Since that win, he’s built a varied filmography. Wes Anderson has cast him multiple times. His Anderson credits include The Grand Budapest Hotel, The French Dispatch, and Asteroid City. Anderson’s films demand visual precision and a very specific kind of performance energy. Brody fits that world naturally.

That attention to craft seems to carry over to how he presents himself publicly. Wearing a Swan Lake-inspired brooch from an independent jeweler to the Met Gala, then crediting her by name, feels like a considered choice.

For Elsa Jin, this is a significant moment. Independent designers rarely land that kind of organic visibility. Getting name-checked by a major Hollywood figure at the Met Gala is about as good as it gets. That exposure may lead somewhere bigger. For now, her work is on the radar.

Brody wore the piece. He thought it was worth mentioning. And now a lot more people know Elsa Jin’s name.
