The Hamilton Tiger-Cats released five players following rookie camp at McMaster University.
American quarterback Jacobian Morgan, American running back Micah Bernard, American offensive lineman Nolan Gorczyca, American linebacker Inumidun Ayo-Durojaiye and American defensive back Stephen Douglas.
The 24-year-old Morgan played seven games at Jackson State University in 2025, completing 60.1 percent of his pass attempts for 1,187 yards, 11 touchdowns with two interceptions, and rushed 42 times for 293 yards and three scores. He was added to Hamilton’s negotiation list in March.
The Canton, Miss. native spent three seasons with the Tigers, completing 63.7 percent of his pass attempts for 4,080 yards, 40 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions over 26 games. He also rushed for 668 yards and 13 scores.
The six-foot-four, 228-pound passer started his collegiate career at Syracuse University where he completed 32-of-50 pass attempts for 288 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions over three years, making two starts.
Hamilton placed three players on the suspended list: American receiver Kyrese Rowan, American defensive lineman Branson Deen and American defensive lineman Brandon Brown.
The Tiger-Cats selected Louisiana Tech offensive lineman Jonathan Denis with their first-round pick in the 2026 CFL Draft. The team’s other major offseason additions include quarterback Tre Ford, receiver Kurleigh Gittens Jr., and linebacker Wynton McManis.
All CFL training camps are scheduled to open on Sunday, May 10. Hamilton plays its first preseason game against the Toronto Argonauts on Saturday, May 23 and first regular-season game against the Montreal Alouettes on Thursday, June 4.
In 2025, the Ticats finished first in the East Division standings with an 11-7 record, though the team lost the East Final to the Montreal Alouettes.
