The Late Show with Stephen Colbert is coming to an end this month. However, Colbert still has a few surprises left for fans. However, one big moment planned ended up getting spoiled by another talk show host, Seth Meyers.
Insiders Claimed That Seth Meyers Revealed A Big Surprise From The Late Show During A Recent Q&A
Stephen Colbert’s run on The Late Show is expected to come to an end, with its final episode airing on May 21, 2026. This comes out as CBS is retiring the series’ format.
Since the news has come out, the series has been making various headlines in all sorts of outlets. In fact, during a recent Q&A on Late Night with Seth Meyers, the show’s namesake host spoiled a surprise Colbert had planned for one of his last episodes.
According to LateNighter, multiple sources claim that Meyers revealed that he, Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel, and John Oliver will appear on the show on Monday, May 11. This group of late-night talk show hosts previously teamed up as Strike Force Five, a 12-episode podcast that launched during the 2023 writers’ strike.
As the outlet noted, the project originally started as a private weekly Zoom check-in between the hosts before branching out into a podcast. The series proved popular, shooting to the top of the charts on Spotify and Apple Podcasts.
This Could Mark Strike Force Five‘s First Time On A Late-Night Stage Together
Over the years, the five have appeared on each other’s shows individually. Despite this, their expected appearance on The Late Show will be the first time all five will appear together on a late-night stage.
At the time, Strike Force Five was notable because it showed actual camaraderie between the hosts, instead of the usual rivalry expected between them. This possible reunion would once again highlight the hosts coming together in support of one of their own.
Notably, The Late Show will be the only network late-night show to air a new episode on Monday night. Both Fallon and Meyers have cancelled their usual tapings. However, they will air new episodes during the rest of the week.
CBS has yet to confirm the booking, suggesting that this was meant as a surprise. However, the outlet claimed that “multiple” sources shared the story with them.
