Besides Googlebooks, Android Auto, and Gemini Intelligence, the 2026 Android Show has revealed a lot about what’s coming to your Android phone this year.
One of the upcoming features coming to Android is called Screen Reactions. You can record yourself and your screen at the same time, letting you overlay your response onto clips, comment sections or gift guides. The overlay works on videos and images, meaning you can give your reaction to anything. This feature will roll out first on Pixel.
Google is also bringing a better Instagram experience to Android phones. The update includes built-in video stabilization, Night Sight integrations and Ultra HDR capture and playback directly on Instagram. Further, the Instagram Edits app is bringing new tools exclusively to Android. The feature turns RAW footage into polished content in seconds using on-device AI. Additionally, there’s Smart Enhance, which will let users upscale photos and videos with advanced on-device AI. There’s also Sound Separation that lets users separate out audio tracks, such as wind, noise and music.
Finally, the Adobe Premiere app is coming to Android this summer. With Premiere, you’ll get access to exclusive templates and effects that’ll let you create and post YouTube shorts from the app.
Another feature coming to Android is called Pause Point. Pause Points take app timers even further, but not as far as a total lockout by offering users a 10-second breather. During a 10-second Pause Point, you can set a timer, do a breathing exercise, or look at some of your favourite photos. And if you want to turn off Pause Point, you’ll need to restart your phone.
