It has been confirmed that TV host Conan O’Brien will host the Academy Awards for a third time after leading the 97th and 98th ceremonies. Meanwhile, Raj Kapoor and Katy Mullan will work as executive producers for a fourth time in a row, as well as Jeff Ross and Mike Sweeney, producing for a third time alongside longtime collaborator O’Brien.
“We are thrilled to be working again with Conan, Raj, Katy, Jeff, and Mike for the 99th Oscars. They are an incredible team and have produced such captivating, entertaining, and heartfelt shows over the last two years,” Academy CEO Bill Kramer and Academy President Lynette Howell Taylor expressed in a conjoined statement. “We are so grateful for their ongoing partnership as we honour our global film community — and we look forward to Conan superbly leading the celebration with his brilliance and humour.”
“Conan has created remarkable energy around the Oscars. His singular comedic voice makes Hollywood’s biggest night one of the most entertaining celebrations of the year,” added Craig Erwich, Disney’s Television Group’s president. “We’re proud to welcome him back and look forward to what he and the producing team deliver next.”
Kooper and Mullan shared how “Getting to reunite with Conan O’Brien for a third year at the Oscars is really special.”
“He brings that signature humour everyone loves, along with a real warmth and generosity that carry through the entire show,” the duo added. “He’s a true creative partner, someone we trust completely, and someone who makes the whole process genuinely fun, both behind the scenes and on stage. We’re incredibly grateful to keep building this together and can’t wait to share what’s next.”
O’Brien’s previous Oscar host gig (15th March, 2026) saw him open with a montage starring in and parodying the top films released in 2025, alongside swipes at nominee Timothée Chalamet’s recent dismissal of ballet and opera as culturally significant, AI dominating filmmaking, semi-joking about being the last host of “human” led ceremonies and maintaining momentum when winners’ speeches went over time. This ceremony also saw Oscar history being made with Ryan Coogler’s Sinners earning the most nods, as well as horror and international cinema winning big.
The ceremony before that included jokes about top actors getting surgery and how nominated film titles, A Complete Unknown, A Real Pain, and Nosferatu, were great ways to describe him.
The 99th Academy Awards will be held on 14th March, 2027, at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood, expected to be livestreamed to 200 locations worldwide.
