Amazon Prime Video are anticipating the imminent release of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan: Ghost War, a political action thriller by director Andrew Bernstein, who works from a script penned by Aaron Rabin and John Krasinski.
The film is set as a third attempted reboot of the Jack Ryan film series, as well as being the sixth feature released under the franchise, which began back in 1990 as based on Tom Clancy’s Ryanverse, comprising novels, films, video games, and a TV show.
Krasinski is set to star in the film in his second appearance as the character, following the Amazon TV series, alongside fellow cast members Wendell Pierce, Michael Kelly, and Sienna Miller, in a story centred on Ryan teaming up again with CIA operatives after a powerful and knowledgeable enemy betrays them.
During promotion for the film, the actor expressed his wishes of continuing the role with more film releases.
“I would love to [continue Jack Ryan as a film series]. I think that we all found that being in a different format just means you can tell different kinds of stories,” the Office star shared with ScreenRant. “I think we have more stories to tell.”
Director Bernstein has also chimed in, stating, “I think we all have ideas, but the most important one is I hope John has ideas cooking up in his head, like you told me he does. I think it’s super important that we have a story to tell.”
The filmmaker added, “That’s the most important. It’s why we came back to make this movie. We had a story to tell that made sense for the character, and for the world, and the world keeps changing. So there’s going to be great stories and great character stories. So I think we’re all excited to jump back in and do it again.”
Bernstein also added how there is still “a lot more of Jack Ryan’s story to tell”, alongside explaining that “…if people dig this movie, which we hope they will, we’re hopeful to make more of them.”
Other actors who have taken the Jack Ryan name include Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck and Chris Pine.
Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan: Ghost War will be released on Amazon Prime Video on May 20th.
