When I was given the opportunity to meet one-on-one with Jonah Scott, the voice of Legoshi from Beastars, I jumped at the chance. If you know anything about me, Dean Daley from MobileSyrup, you know I love anime.
I had just finished the Beastars series when I spoke with Jonah, so a lot of our focus was on that specific anime. However, I also talked with Jonah about his style of voice acting, the types of characters he’s played and being a member of the 2SLGBTQ+ community.
Beastars takes place in a world of anthropomorphic animals and stars Legoshi, a reclusive wolf who has a budding relationship with a white rabbit. The series started back in 2019 and only just ended. It’s based on a shonen manga by the same name by Paru Itagaki. While a lot of anime fans watch series in Japanese, I tend to stick with the English dub. Because of this, I’ve been listening to Jonah Scott’s voice as Legoshi for several years, and I was definitely a little nervous.
Jonah Scott is also in Super Crooks, One Piece, Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, One Punch Man, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Fire Force, Akumada Drive, Attack on Titan, Demon Slayer and more.
