Gilbert, who started her career as a child actress, became known to many for starring as Laura Ingalls Wilder on Little House on the Prairie. During this time, she appeared in films like The Diary of Anne and The Miracle Worker. Since then, Gilbert has pursued several different ventures. served as the president of the Screen Actors Guild from 2001 to 2005. She was also a contestant on the fourteenth season of Dancing with the Stars.
In her personal life, Gilbert has been married to actor and director Timothy Busfield since 2013. She was previously married to Bo Brinkman and Bruce Boxleitner.
Recently, Gilbert shared a different side of herself on social media. This was an unfiltered photograph without makeup, tagged @OfficialModernPrairie, her lifestyle brand and digital community, which is aimed at women aged 50 and older.

This post was shared days after Gilbert returned to Instagram days earlier on May 13. While she has frequently appeared on her company Modern Prairie‘s socials over the past few months, this was the first time she posted on her own Instagram account since the start of the year.

As noted by People, Gilbert initially deleted her social media account when her husband became the subject of child sex abuse allegations. He had been indicted by a grand jury in New Mexico on four counts of criminal sexual contact of a minor back in February. All counts are third-degree felonies.
The actor has pleaded not guilty to all charges against him. As previously reported, Gilbert has expressed support for her spouse during this time, believing he would be exonerated.
