May 21 marks the annual Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD), and to commemorate the occasion, Apple has revealed a new suite of accessibility features.
Most notably, Apple Intelligence is being used to bolster existing everyday features like VoiceOver and Magnifier with more detailed visual descriptions. Additionally, Apple Intelligence brings natural language to Voice Control so users can “say what they see” to navigate apps through commands like “tap the guide about best restaurants” or “tap the purple folder.” Meanwhile, the Accessibility Reader can also now provide more thorough overviews of reading materials through Apple’s AI.
Other additions for GAAD 2026 include auto-generated and customizable subtitles, wheelchair control functionality with Apple Vision Pro, larger text on tvOS and the global launch of the Hikawa Adaptive MagSafe Accessory for those with different grips.
