The Ottawa Charge have stayed alive in the 2026 Professional Women’s Hockey League season. On Monday, the Charge defeated the Montreal Victoire 2-1 in game three of the best out of five Walter Cup Series. The Victoire still lead the series two games to one.
Rebecca Leslie of Ottawa, Ontario was the Charge hero on Monday at the Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa, Ontario. Leslie scored from Sarah Wozniewicz of Cochrane, Alberta with 56 seconds left in the third period to break a 1-1 deadlock. It was the first lead Ottawa had in the entire game.
All three goals came in the third period. Hayley Scammura opened the scoring for the Victoire at 7:32 of the third period, and then Peyton Hemp tied the game for the Charge with five minutes and 30 seconds left in the final frame. Remember, if the Victoire were able to hold on to their 1-0 third period lead, Ottawa’s season would have been over.
One thing from the series is guaranteed. That is a Canadian franchise will win the Walter Cup for the first time ever. The Charge can tie the series at two on Wednesday. If Ottawa does win on Wednesday, the fifth and deciding game of the series will be in the province of Quebec on Saturday.
