Aespa dropped the official announcement for their second studio album on Wednesday. The title is ‘LEMONADE’. It releases May 29, 2026, at 1 PM KST – midnight EDT for fans in the US.
The reveal spotlighted member Ningning right away. The official caption on the group’s Instagram carried the tagline “Complæxity: LEMONADE Is Ready” alongside her name and hashtag. She’s the group’s main vocalist, and any era that puts her front and center tends to hit different for fans who’ve been along for the full aespa journey.
Pre-orders are live now through the group’s official site. No reason to wait.
‘LEMONADE’ is aespa’s second full-length studio album under SM Entertainment. Their debut album, ‘Armageddon’, arrived in May 2024. It was a heavy record, ambitious and concept-driven, leaning hard into the futuristic sci-fi identity the group had built. Two years later, ‘LEMONADE’ looks like a pivot.
The title itself is doing a lot of work. Citrus-coded and bright, it signals a lighter, more playful energy than anything in aespa’s back catalog. Whether that carries over to the actual sound is still unknown. But the shift in tone is real, and people are paying attention.
Aespa debuted in November 2020 under SM Entertainment and quickly became one of K-pop’s more distinctive acts. Their concept centered on alternate digital versions of themselves, their “ae” counterparts, living in a fictional universe. It was a lot of lore, and it built a loyal global following. Heading into their second album, they’ve got real momentum and a fanbase that spans multiple continents.
The announcement pulled over 311,000 likes on Instagram. For a reveal dropped without an audio preview or full trailer, that’s a meaningful response. The group’s reach across regions was evident. Comments from fans in multiple countries poured in within hours.
Ningning, born Ning Yizhuo, is aespa’s Chinese-born main vocalist. She joined the group as one of four members at their debut in 2020 and has been a consistent standout since. Her vocal range and stage presence have earned her a dedicated following of her own. Landing the first solo spotlight in the ‘LEMONADE’ rollout is a big moment for her. Her name was even the first hashtag in the announcement caption – a detail that didn’t go unnoticed.
Three other members still haven’t gotten their own dedicated teasers – Karina, Giselle, and Winter. More reveals before May 29 seem likely. The campaign feels like it’s still warming up.
SM Entertainment is keeping this rollout tight. Eight days from announcement to release is a short window for a full studio album. That feels deliberate. The label appears to be letting the music do the talking rather than stretching out a long pre-release campaign. Given how strong the initial response has been, that’s probably the right move. Aespa has earned the benefit of the doubt at this point.
‘LEMONADE’ arrives May 29 at 1 PM KST. Pre-orders are open now. Eight days to go.
