The final trailer for Steven Spielberg’s upcoming film Disclosure Day has just been released by Universal Pictures, and it’s sending sci‑fi fans into a frenzy of anticipation.
The film stars Emily Blunt and Josh O’Connor, who lead an action‑packed, high‑stakes story centred on first contact and the search for extraterrestrial life. O’Connor plays cybersecurity expert Daniel Kelner, whilst Blunt takes on the role of meteorologist Margaret Fairchild. Together, they uncover evidence of alien life hidden within layers of global data and atmospheric irregularities. Their discoveries pull them into a web of long‑buried secrets, including a government cover‑up surrounding UFO sightings and non‑human intelligence.
Adding to the excitement, Colin Firth returns to the screen as Noah Scanlon, a figure deeply entangled in the film’s extraterrestrial conspiracies. His character’s connection to the truth becomes a driving force behind the escalating tension as Kelner and Fairchild race to expose — or rather, disclose — what has been hidden for decades.
Spielberg, known for iconic works such as E.T. and the Jurassic Park franchise, is no stranger to the science‑fiction genre. Disclosure Day marks his first directorial release since The Fabelmans in 2023, and fans are eager to see him return to the realm of the unknown. Musical legend John Williams has also composed the score for this film, marking Spielberg and Williams 30th collaboration together.
With the film landing in UK cinemas on 10 June, speculation is already swirling. Some viewers are convinced there’s more to the story than meets the eye — with theories emerging that Disclosure Day may even serve as a spiritual companion to Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Whether or not those rumours hold any truth, one thing is certain – Spielberg’s latest venture is shaping up to be one of the year’s most talked-about cinematic events.
Disclosure Day hits UK cinemas on Wednesday 10th June, releasing elsewhere on Friday 12th June
