News has come out that Matt Brown of Alaskan Bush People fame was presumed dead after a recent incident. The figure was seen in an area around the time witnesses claimed to have seen a man fall in water. Since then, however, an update has been shared in the search for the unidentified individual.
The Story Concerned A Figure Seen In The Waters Of Washington’s Okanogan River
Viewers were originally introduced to Matt and the Brown family through Alaskan Bush People. The series revolved around the family as they lived off the grid around Hoonah, Alaska. Matt Brown is the oldest son of Ami and the late Billy Brown.
Recently, reports have come out that an unidentified male was seen in the waters of Washington’s Okanogan River. Eyewitnesses reportedly saw Matt in the area, causing speculation that he was the man in the story.
As previously reported, Matt’s brother Bear discussed the story in a recent video shared on social media. At the time, he felt that there was only a small chance that the man in the story wasn’t his brother, although he was praying otherwise.
According to TMZ, the case recently became more complicated after authorities claimed that they have suspended their search for the unidentified man. The Okanogan County Sheriff’s Office claimed that “deputies, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife personnel, divers, sonar teams, boats, personal watercraft, and even a cadaver dog” spent this past Friday searching a section of the river.
Matt Brown’s Brother Bear Alluded To Weather Impacting The Search In A Recent Video
Despite the extensive search efforts, no trace of the missing man was found. The sheriff’s office claimed that river conditions grew worse throughout the day as rainfall increased. In his video, Bear also discussed weather conditions impacting the search.
Reportedly, the rain increased water levels and current speeds, making the area dangerous for the search crews.

In addition, investigators suspect that the increased river flow could mean that the individual in the water is no longer near the area where he was last seen.
Thanks to this, authorities have suspended the search. However, authorities are believed to be waiting for additional information that could help them narrow the target search area.

As previously reported, Brown’s family has expressed fears that the unidentified individual was Matt. Matt’s brother Gabe was also seen in the area talking with police. However, at the time, police stressed that the individual remained unknown.
Officials reiterated this the following Saturday as the search had been temporarily called off. They also shared that the identity of the missing man won’t be shared until his next of kin are notified.
