Hoda Kotb may have stepped away from her hosting duties on Today earlier last year. However, she recently made an appearance on the show for a special occasion. During the moment, she also had a few words for some of her former co-workers.
Hoda Kotb Recently Appeared On Today‘s Fourth Hour, Which She Previously Co-Hosted For Years
Kotb became known to many as a co-anchor for Today and a co-host for the show’s entertainment-focused fourth hour. In addition, she served as a correspondent for Dateline NBC.
In late 2024, Kotb announced that she would be stepping down from the show the following year. Her last day as an official co-host on the show was January 10, 2025. After a series of rotating guest hosts, Sheinelle Jones later took her place as a co-host on the fourth hour alongside Jenna Bush Hager.
Despite this, Kotb had still made appearances on the show, whether through video, photo, or live appearances, on special occasions. Recently, she appeared on the show’s Friday episode, after being introduced by Jenna and Sheinelle. Jones shared, “You know it’s a special day around here when Hoda’s in the house,” while her co-host added, “We are so happy. Hoda is back to share a sweet story with us.”
Jenna congratulated Kotb for a special reason. It was the one-year anniversary of her wellness company, Joy 101. Kotb herself shared, “First of all, can you believe our little company, we’re 1? I cannot believe what happened.”
Kotb Teased That She Already Had Big Plans For 2027
“I still remember being with my sister and my bestie, going, ‘Can we build something that spreads joy? What does that even look like?’ And literally, a year later, I was looking at the Zoom call of our team, and I think there were 15 people on it. And I was counting, and we’re building it brick-by-brick. I was thinking, ‘What’s better than being able to do the thing you love?’ And you know, that’s what I’ve loved forever, it’s like, surprising, spreading joy.”
During her share, Kotb shared her excitement about the company’s plan for the rest of the year, as well as the next. Noting that retreats have already been selling out, she shared, “We’ve got one called Joy Fest that’s coming up in [2027], which is gonna be our big event, which I’m so excited about, where I have great speakers and just motivation and all the rest.”
Jenna praised her former co-host for her work, saying that the country was in need of a little “joy” and that Kotb was the perfect “ambassador” for this. In turn, Kotb thanked her and Sheinelle for their work, adding, “You guys are spreading joy every day. I watch you, and you make me so proud.”
