Acer is looking to get in on some of the smartglasses bag, as the PC-maker unveiled two variants of smartglasses that it plans on launching later this year. The more interesting of the two, the Acer AI Glass GI0, looks and functions similarly to the Ray-Ban Metas.

The GI0 looks like the Ray-Ban Wayfarer, but it has a stylish half-rim design that has the frame covering the top half of the glasses. This lets the Acer GI0 glasses have a lighter design than the Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 at 46g without the lenses.

The cameras on the device are built into the frames and capture 3024 x 4032-pixel images and 1920 x 1080p videos at 30fps. Additionally, it has its own AI for visual search, translation, conversation recording and voice notes. The device uses Google Gemini for its AI capabilities.

The GI0 uses Bluetooth and is compatible with Android and iOS nd is equipped with Wi-Fi. Additionally, the G10 is available globally later this year and costs US$300 (C$416).

While the GI0 are smartglasses that you’d replace your regular glasses with, the Acer AR Vision GR0 is more competition for XReal.

These glasses sport dual micro OLED screens with the equivalent of viewing a 172-inch screen from six meters away. Other screen specs include 200 nit of brightness, a 60Hz refresh rate and a 1920 x 1080-pixel resolution when viewing standard 2D content.

The GR0 connects to Android, iOS and Windows devices, displays 2D and 3D content and offers stereo sound. The GR0 launches globally later this year and costs US$500 (C$694).
