The BBC has just announced brand new casting for the upcoming series of Peaky Blinders, which is currently being filmed in and around Digbeth Loc. Studios in Birmingham.
The new era of the show, set a decade after World War II, will be the race to rebuild Birmingham, becoming a brutal contest of mythical dimensions. New characters, Duke (Jamie Bell) and Charles Shelby (Charlie Heaton), quickly find themselves in a city of unprecedented opportunity and jeopardy. Described as being at the blood-soaked heart of the city are Duke Shelby’s Peaky Blinders.
They are made up of Eliot (Samuel Bottomley), Angelo (Arturo Muselli), Frank (Eugene Collins) and Kezia Lee (Lucie Shorthouse), with Ned Dennehy and Packy Lee both reprising their roles from the series and Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man as Charlie Strong and Johnny Dogs respectively.
Also joining the cast are Conleth Hill as Clemmy Keeler, the fierce patriarch of the Keeler gangster family who rivals the Peaky Blinders’ ambitions to rebuild Birmingham. Cal O’Driscoll as Clemmy’s son, Aidan Keeler, and Daniel Monks as Detective Inspector Bell.
The newly announced cast join Jessica Brown Findlay (Silo, The Flatshare), Lashana Lynch (The Day of The Jackal, No Time to Die), and Lucy Karczewski (Stereophonic), who were all previously announced to join the series. Details of their roles will be shared at a later date.
Since the original series launched on the BBC in 2013, Peaky Blinders has become a global phenomenon, winning fans countless awards, including the 2018 BAFTA for Best Drama Series. The series is produced by Banijay UK companies Kudos (SAS Rogue Heroes, House of Guinness) and Garrison Drama (Peaky Blinders series 1-6, Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man) for the BBC in the UK and Netflix in the rest of the world.
