Montreal Alouettes swap three starters against Argonauts

The Montreal Alouettes have made three changes to their starting lineup for Friday’s game against the Toronto Argonauts. The team issued its official depth chart on Thursday morning.

Marco Dubois will start at slotback in place of Cole Spieker, who has been placed on the six-game injured list due to an ankle injury he suffered in the team’s season-opening win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. Spieker is in his fifth season with Montreal, having made 152 career receptions for 1,948 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Dubois signed with the Alouettes in May following his release from the Ottawa Redblacks. The six-foot-four, 235-pound target mostly played fullback over seven seasons in the nation’s capital but has been reverted back to receiver in La Belle Province, the same position he played collegiately at Université Laval.

Cyrille Hogan-Saindon will start at centre for Justin Lawrence, who was recently moved to the six-game injured list with an ankle injury he suffered in Week 1. Hogan-Saindon started four regular-season games at centre with Montreal in 2025 and previously started 29 games with the Redblacks to begin his career.

Arthur Hamlin will start at strong-side linebacker for Najee Murray, who has been placed on the one-game injured list with a foot issue. Now in his eighth year with Montreal, Murray has made 244 defensive tackles, six special teams tackles, nine interceptions, three sacks, and two forced fumbles over 67 career regular-season games. Hamlin made four starts in 2025 — one at strong-side linebacker and three at safety.

Dubois, Hogan-Saindon, and Hamlin each dressed in depth roles last week. With three roster spots available, Montreal has promoted Canadian offensive lineman Braydon Noll, American linebacker Donovan Manuel, and American defensive back Don Callis to the active roster. Noll will be Hogan-Saindon’s backup at centre, while Manuel and Callis will provide depth on defence.

The rest of Montreal’s roster remains unchanged from last week when they beat the Tiger-Cats in Steeltown. Davis Alexander threw for 336 yards and two touchdowns in the victory, while Tyler Snead made nine receptions for 163 yards and one score.

The Montreal Alouettes (1-0) will host the Toronto Argonauts (0-0) at Percival Molson Stadium on Friday, June 12, with kickoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m. EDT. The Argonauts were on a bye in Week 1, while the Alouettes are coming off an overtime victory over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

The weather forecast in Montreal calls for a high of 25 degrees and a 20 percent chance of rain. The game will be broadcast on TSN and RDS in Canada, and CFL+ in the United States and internationally.
