Millie Bobby Brown is used to haters coming after her. She’s been the target of trolls ever since her breakout role in Netflix’s Stranger Things when she was 12. But now she’s married with a child. She finally broke her silence and addressed the internet calling her husband, Jake Bongiovi, out for his alleged bad parenting. Keep reading to find out more because she did not hold back.
Millie Bobby Brown & Jake Bongiovi Adopt Baby Girl
Millie Bobby Brown wasn’t even a full teenager when she started playing Eleven on Netflix’s mega hit Stranger Things. She was 21 when the show ended in late 2025. By that time, she was already married with a child. She began dating Jake Bongiovi in 2021. He’s the son of Jon Bongiovi, the frontman of the legendary band Bon Jovi.
The couple married in a private ceremony in 2024. In the summer of 2025, they announced the surprising news that they had adopted a baby girl. They’ve maintained their daughter’s privacy, choosing not to reveal her name or face.
The decision to adopt as young 20-year-olds was surprisingly controversial. Then the couple was caught on camera several times with Millie Bobby Brown carrying a bunch of bags or the baby without her husband helping. The videos sparked backlash against Jake Bongiovi’s parenting.
Stranger Things Star Breaks Silence On Husband’s Bad Parenting
Millie Bobby Brown joined Kylie Kelce on her Not Gonna Lie podcast and finally addressed the internet declaring her husband a bad father. “I’m not gonna lie, when did women become incapable of holding their own bags, car seats and stuff? This stems from me holding all of my suitcases and bags and my kid and people are like, ‘Your husband doesn’t hold a single thing.’ Because I’m three miles ahead. I have been planning this all night,” the actress said.

Millie Bobby Brown continued to defend her husband, “We’re all about empowering girls and, ‘You got it’ and ‘You don’t need a man.’ But then when I’m like, ‘Ok, I can carry my own things,’ people are like, ‘Where’s your husband?’”
Kylie Kelce, who is married to retired NFL star Jason Kelce, wholeheartedly agreed. She said that people often ask her if she needs help but pointed out that if she did need help, her husband would be the first person she asked.
Millie Bobby Brown also reacted to the suggestion that her husband isn’t a good partner to her. “Nobody knows my husband. My husband is the most polite, sweet, will-do-anything-for-me. But he also knows I’m capable,” she said.

But her defense didn’t land the way she thought it would. Check out what people had to say about it:
- “She’s young and doesn’t get it but she will”
- “All I ever hear is her making excuses for her husband.”
- “It’s not about a woman not being capable. It’s simple respect”
Elsewhere in the podcast episode, she discussed the decision to adopt. Millie Bobby Brown shared that she had wanted to adopt since she was a young girl. But she also hopes to carry a baby someday in the future, too. “Adoption is love, adoption is forever,” she said.
