Gordon Ramsay is channeling World Cup energy into his kitchen. The dish he’s cooking sounds like a crowd-pleaser.

The celebrity chef announced on Instagram this week that he’s making a Korean-inspired take on the classic Juicy Lucy Burger. It’s timed right to the 2026 FIFA World Cup opening in the United States. South Korea had just pulled off a big win. Ramsay wanted to celebrate, and celebrating with food is kind of his whole thing.

“With football kicking off in the United States tonight and that incredible victory by South Korea last night… I’m cooking up a World Cup inspired Juicy Lucy Burger with a Korean Twist!” he wrote. “Can’t wait for the games this weekend.”

For anyone new to the Juicy Lucy, here’s the concept. Instead of layering cheese on top of the patty, you stuff it inside the raw beef. Then it goes on the grill. The cheese melts from the inside out, creating a gooey, molten center that makes every bite an event. It’s a beloved Minneapolis original. Matt’s Bar and the 5-8 Club have both claimed credit for inventing it since the 1950s, and neither has backed down. Ramsay putting his spin on it is the kind of high-profile attention that Minneapolis burger fans are going to appreciate.

Ramsay didn’t spell out the recipe details in his post. But the idea of pairing that classic stuffed burger with Korean-inspired flavors is exactly the kind of culinary creativity he’s built a career on. Korean cuisine has become one of the most celebrated food cultures in the United States over the past decade. Its bold, savory character translates beautifully to a burger format.

The 2026 World Cup sets a fitting stage for this kind of cooking. The tournament is the first co-hosted across three countries – the United States, Canada, and Mexico. It’s bringing a wave of global sports energy to North American audiences. South Korea’s win added genuine excitement to the bracket. Ramsay responding with a recipe feels warm and spontaneous. It’s the kind of gesture that makes a big international event feel a little more personal.

His track record makes the move feel natural. He’s one of the most Michelin-starred chefs in the world. His television career spans Hell’s Kitchen, MasterChef, and a long list of cooking shows across networks. A Korean-inflected Juicy Lucy created for a World Cup moment lands squarely in his wheelhouse.

His mention of the upcoming weekend games has a playful “stay tuned” vibe. South Korea’s continued success in the tournament could mean more inspired recipes from Ramsay’s kitchen.

For now, the World Cup Juicy Lucy is the dish to watch. It takes a regional American classic and gives it a fresh international spin. The world’s most-watched sporting event is playing out across the country right now, and Ramsay is cooking right along with it. Great cooking and great celebrations go hand in hand. This week, Ramsay’s got both.
